This is me, Anouk, and welcome to my website! Since this is the ‘About’ page let me share a few things about me so you can get to know me better. I guess this would include my interests, hobbies, music, and whatever else comes to mind.
So I was born on the 9th of February, 1990 in Amersfoort, the Netherlands. I lived there till I was seven years old and we got the opportunity to move countries, destination Israel. There I got my first real taste of the world and all it’s cultures. I went to an International School where I learned English, and now I speak that better than my native tongue. From there we moved around to Egypt, Dubai and now here in England for the past nine years.
Interests, besides the obvious which is Design:
- Reading: I’m a huge fan of fantasy action books. I have a very visual imagination and love delving into these magical worlds with fantastic characters. Some of my favourite authors would be Trudi Canavan, Christopher Paolini and Garth Nix.
- Music: Since I was little I always listened to music, no matter what it was, even while I slept. My preferred genres consist of symphonic rock/metal, general rock/metal, electronic and dubstep. Bands such as Within Temptation, Evanescence, Linkin Park and Avenged Sevenfold always being a playlist must.
- Anime: Preferred genre being Mecha or fantasy action I will always enjoy a good anime. My top ones being Ghost in the Shell, Aquarion Evol, Gundam 00 and Kill la Kill.
- Video Games: Well I guess I’ve always been a gamer since little but nowadays I’ve put a lot more hours into it. I love playing games for their story and art styles, and if they have a social aspect such as multiplayer all the better! I love seeing how the technology evolves and how they push gaming in new directions. Some of these favourites would consist of Assassin’s Creed 1-3, Destiny and M&M Clash of Heroes.
I’m a very open-minded person with a good sense of humour. I enjoy being sociable and working as a team, but can also work on my own no problem. I’m a problem-solver and enjoy a good discussion, you always learn new things after all. I also enjoy a good cup of tea!
So Why Design:
Thinking back I’ve always had an interest in design, whether it was laying out imagery on a paper, creating an essay in word or playing with letter design in sketchbooks and notepads. It wasn’t until I had to start looking at university courses that I came across graphic design and what it entailed. Since finishing my MA in graphic design I don’t want to do anything else but learn, design and experiment. I would love to get involved with digital projects since that is where a lot of projects lie and will jump at any opportunity I can to learn those skills. I think of myself as a versatile designer being able to adapt to any brief and always excited by a challenge.
